Meet Mrs. Federspiel

About Me

My name is Mrs. Chris Federspiel and I am the teacher of the Pre-K 4 class here at Annunciation! I can NOT begin to tell you how truly blessed I feel to be part of this school community! I am one of the lucky ones who gets to say that I absolutely love my job!!

My Family

I am married to my husband, Bob, and we have 3 beautiful children! Bryna is 18 years old and is a senior at Nerinx Hall High School. Our second daughter, Alex, is 15, and is a freshman at Nerinx. Our son, Justin, is 12 and is in the 6th grade class here at Annunciation!

My Education / Experience

I attended Nerinx Hall and graduated from Fontbonne University with a B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education with Certification. I have known that I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember! I have been working with young children since 1986 in day care centers, providing child care in my home while my children were at home, substitute teaching and serving the Webster community as a Parent Educator. I am currently finishing my 4th year at Annunciation. I taught both the Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 classes (part-time) for the first 3 years. Due to our expanding full-time program, I am now the teacher of the full day Pre-K 4 class. I am MOST passionate about teaching Pre-K for the primary reason that I feel very strongly about the fact that a child's Pre-K experience will set the stage for his/her attitude regarding school for the next couple of years! My most heartfelt desire is to ensure that each one of my students will leave my classroom with the feeling that school is a safe and fun place to be!

My Professional Philosphy

Each child is unique and special, and that they are a gift from God! I try to relate to and instruct each child in whatever way he/she will thrive the best! I believe that children learn best by "doing", and that a child's play is his/her work. I also believe that children need to learn conflict resolution and problem solving skills at a young age and I try to instruct and encourage each child in doing so. I am also a firm believer that each child needs lots of affection, attention, and praise every day!
