Are you a coach, parish worker, or other volunteer working with children? We look forward to your presence here and wanted to let you know of the Archdiocesan Program called Safe Environment Program (SEP).
The Archdiocese of St. Louis, under the direction of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, requires that all who work (volunteers) with or around children (including parents, grandparents, etc.) be compliant with the Safe Environment Program. This letter will walk you through the process of becoming compliant. All steps must be complete before you may volunteer.
For more information on the Safe Environment Program (SEP) click here. If you have any questions, please call Barb Koch at the Rectory, 314-962-5955, x121 or email parishsecretary@goannunciation.com. All completed forms are to be turned in to Barb Koch at the parish office.
To volunteer with children, the following steps are required by the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program (SEP):
1. Attendance at a Protecting God's Children Workshop. Click here to view upcoming workshops.
2. Signed Code of Ethics (click here for form) on file with parish. After reading Code of Ethics book, print the last page and sign and date and return it with the other documents to the rectory.
3. A completed background check from the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR). Download the FCSR background check form (click here for form). No money is required the parish pays the fee. GOOD NEWS: the parish no longer needs a copy of your Social Security Card to process your signed FCSR form. The FSCR background check form has been revised and the Acknowledgment for Volunteer Screening Purposes Form is no longer needed.
It sounds a little cumbersome in the beginning, but this is all you will need to do. Every even year we will run a background check for you and you will receive a copy in the mail. There is no extra cost involved in this.
We want to make the process as easy as possible. If you have any questions or there is anything I can do to help you with this, please call me at 314-962-5955, x121.
Thank you for your willingness to serve our parish and keep our children safe. We appreciate all you do! Barb Koch
Children in grades 7th through 12th grade who volunteer are required to fill out the Student Code of Ethics (click here for form) and return the form to the parish office. Anyone out of high school is considered an adult.
SEP NOTICE: All volunteers and employees who work with children at Annunciation Parish must be in full compliance with the Safe Environment Program (SEP). This includes attending a Protecting God's Children workshop, undergoing a background check updated in even-numbered years, having an FBI fingerprint check if you have lived outside of Missouri within the past five years, and signing the Code of Ethical Conduct. These requirements are mandated by the United States Council of Catholic Bishops and are followed by every diocese in the country. The policies are the Church's attempt to ensure the suitability of all adults who work or volunteer around your children. If you have any questions about your compliance, please contact our Parish Child Safety Coordinator, Barb Koch, at the rectory, 314-962-5955, x121, or email at parishsecretary@goannunciation.com
